This is a fun romp with Ledger Kale (younger cousin to Savvy's protagonist Mibs), who turns thirteen shortly before his family heads to Wyoming for a wedding. Ledger's savvy seems to be disassembling things, from a stopwatch his sister uses to time his running (he was hoping for a savvy that would make him speedier) to an entire vintage motorcycle parked outside the store in Sundance where they stop for a rest break just before heading to his uncle's ranch. It's just too bad he can't control when or what he disassembles.
Allowed to stay behind at Uncle Autrey's ranch, Ledger spends the summer trying to avoid the attention of Sarah Jane Cabot (daughter of a local businessman and reporter/editor of her self-published newspaper The Sundance Scuttlebutt), his twin cousins who have been controlling their savvies since they were five, and Uncle Autrey's insect conservatory, which could do without an uncontrolled savvy tearing it apart. Along the way, he makes new friends, helps his older cousin step out into the world more, and figures out how to scumble his savvy so it can be more than simply destructive.
